SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

June 8, 2017

5:30 pm:  Captain’s meeting at Georgetown Landing Marina.  Beverages and light food will be served.   

6:30 pm: Entries and Payments must be received by Georgetown Landing Marina at this time.

 

June 9, 2017

7:00 am: First day of fishing begins.

7:00 pm: Weigh scales close (Must be in line to weigh at fish cleaning area to weigh).

8:00 pm: Dinner and Beverages provided on the dock. 

June 10, 2017

7:00 am: Second day of fishing begins.

7:00 pm: Weigh scales close (Must be in line to weigh at fish cleaning area to weigh).

8:00 pm: Awards Ceremony, Dinner and Beverages on the dock.

RULES

Boats may leave from Charleston, SC, Georgetown, SC, or Murrells Inlet, SC.

  1. Lines in at 6 am and lines must be out at 3 pm.   All boats must be in to weigh in at Georgetown Landing Marina by 6pm.  NO fish may be brought to scales by vehicle; it must be weighed from the boat in which it was caught, and MUST be weighed at Georgetown Landing Marina.
  2. Official tournament time will be continuous GPS time.
  3. Boats will fish one-out-of-two eligible fishing days, Captain’s Choice. Eligible fishing days are: Friday, June 9th, & Saturday June 10th. In the event these two days of fishing are cancelled due to weather, then Sunday, June 11th shall be a fishing day (weather day). One day of fishing constitutes a tournament.
  4. Small craft at 6 am NOAA Inshore Report declares an ineligible fishing day. ONE DAY of fishing constitutes a tournament.
  5. All fish must be caught from conventional rod and reel. J- Hooks or Circle hooks are allowed, as well as lures and artificial baits.  No electric reels, bandit reels or "Green sticking."
  6. In the event of a tie on weight, the first fish weighed will take the highest place.
  7. For the tuna category, any member of the tuna family is eligible for weigh in (i.e. Yellow fin, Black fin, Skipjack, etc). 
  8. Only one fish from each species will count towards each category.  Each boat may only claim 1 place in each category. 
  9. A member from the boat must be present to weigh-in each fish.
  10. Entry fee is $250 per boat and qualifies your boat for the Grand Prize of $5000*.  The Grand Prize is scored on your aggregate weight. The aggregate is the combined total of your heaviest tuna, heaviest dolphin, & heaviest wahoo caught during the tournament (all three species required). If no boat catches all 3 species then the HEAVIER of two categories will win. (3 lighter fish will beat 2 heavier fish). 
  11. The Tournament within a Tournament (TWT) fees are due by 6:30 pm on June 8th at Georgetown Landing Marina.  

PAYOUT

*** Grand Prize based on Aggregate Weight. The aggregate is the combined total of your heaviest tuna, heaviest dolphin  

& heaviest wahoo caught during the tournament (all three species required). If no boat catches all 3 species then the

HEAVIER of two categories will win. (3 lighter fish will beat 2 heavier fish). ***

Lady Angler:  $150.00

Youth Angler:  $150.00

Payout on each Optional Category will be determined after captains meeting. These tournaments within a tournament pay two places: 60%/40%.  Kid’s Chance of SC retains 5% on each TWT category for the charity.  

Big Dog Aggregate ***PAYS FIRST PLACE ONLY***

The aggregate is the combined total of your heaviest tuna, heaviest dolphin, & heaviest wahoo caught during the tournament (all three species required). If no boat catches all 3 species then the HEAVIER of two categories will win. (3 lighter fish will beat 2 heavier fish).  

50/50 Dolphin:  50% of proceeds will be paid to boat with largest dolphin. 50% will be paid to Dolphin Research Program.
